How to Pay for Claude Pro in China: Claude Top-Up and Four Routes (2026)
7 min read
If you want Claude in mainland China but have no foreign card that passes official checkout, a Claude top-up paid in RMB is the low-barrier route: Xingqiao's Claude Pro is from ¥199, payable with WeChat Pay, Alipay, a bank card or Apple Pay, and it's activated on your own account. After paying, send WeChat support your subscription account email; support starts the sign-in on Anthropic's official page, you forward the one-time code from your inbox, and the plan is activated without your password, provided the account has had a paid plan before or has passed Anthropic's identity verification (full refund if it can't be activated). If you have a reliable dual-currency card, paying the official price yourself is cheaper; below, the four routes sit in one table, followed by how Claude Pro relates to Claude Code and the usual reasons a subscription won't go through.
Four ways to pay for Claude from China
| Route | What you need | Cost | Main risk | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pay the official price with your own dual-currency or foreign card | A dual-currency card that passes Stripe's risk checks + a usable overseas billing address | Official $20/month, about ¥135 at the current rate (about 6.72) | Chinese issuing banks decline overseas software subscriptions fairly often; after a failed charge you have to sort it out with the bank or support yourself | People who already have a reliable dual-currency card and can handle the occasional failed charge |
| Switch to an overseas App Store / Google Play account and buy in-app | An Apple ID or Google account in a supported region, with a payment method that works there | Varies by region; public prices usually $17.6–$24/month depending on the region | Switching regions is a hassle: most regions require a zero balance, and some require a local payment method | People willing to change account regions to save a little each month |
| Set up a virtual card and pay the official price | Open a virtual card service that supports overseas spending, complete KYC and top it up | Official $20/month + card opening and top-up fees, usually ¥150–200/month in total | Virtual cards can be declined by Stripe too, card providers can be unreliable, and topped-up funds are tied up for a while | People who want to control the payment chain and accept extra tool costs |
| Pay in RMB through a top-up service | Almost no barrier; most only need your subscription account email | Common market prices ¥199–350/month (Xingqiao Claude Pro from ¥199; other services usually ¥250–350) | Check what access you grant, whether delivery is promised in writing, and whether the refund terms are clear | People without an overseas payment method who don't want to deal with the payment chain |
Behind all four routes is the same problem: mainland China isn't on Anthropic's list of supported regions, and Claude.ai checkout only accepts international credit cards, not Alipay or WeChat Pay. Whatever route you take, you're working around two things: an overseas identity and an overseas payment method. A dual-currency or virtual card solves the payment; a region switch moves the account and its payment method to another region; a top-up service handles both for you, and you just pay in RMB. Which one to pick depends on whether you'd rather manage the payment chain yourself or pay a bit more to skip it.
How to get a Claude top-up with Xingqiao
Xingqiao's Claude Pro top-up is paid in RMB with WeChat Pay, Alipay, a bank card or Apple Pay. After paying, add our WeChat support with the note "Claude" and send your order details and subscription account email. Support starts the sign-in on Anthropic's official page; you forward the one-time code sent to your email, and once it's activated you confirm the subscription in your account. No password at any point, and a full refund if it can't be activated.
Check three things before ordering: the account is your own and currently on the free plan; it has had a paid subscription before, or has passed Anthropic's identity verification; and your sign-up region, phone number region and everyday access region match. The US is recommended for now.
How a Claude Pro subscription relates to Claude Code
Claude Pro is Anthropic's subscription plan for individuals, officially priced from $20/month (about $17/month billed annually). It covers usage on the web, desktop and mobile apps, and includes features such as Projects and Research. Claude Code is a coding agent that runs in your terminal, available from the Pro plan up, with no separate subscription to buy.
The confusing part is usage: Claude Code and the web and mobile apps share one usage pool. Chat on the web during the day, run a pile of coding tasks with Claude Code at night, and together you'll hit the limit sooner. Usage is counted in a rolling window; once you hit the limit, you wait for the window to reset. That's why Anthropic offers two higher tiers, Max 5x (about $100/month) and Max 20x (about $200/month): Claude Code doesn't cost extra, heavy use just needs a bigger pool.
In short: subscribe to Pro and you can use Claude Code. Occasional code changes and scripts are usually fine. If you spend long days on multi-file refactors or agent workflows, then look at Max. For choosing and upgrading between Pro and Max, see Claude Code top-up.
Common reasons a Claude subscription won't go through
- The charge is declined outright: Chinese issuing banks decline overseas software subscriptions like Anthropic (often shown on statements as STRIPE*ANTHROPIC) fairly often, and new cards or repeated attempts in a short time trigger risk checks more easily. Switching cards or trying again a few days later sometimes works, but there's no pattern.
- "Service not available in your region": First check that your account or IP is in a region Anthropic supports. Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Venezuela and the Crimea, Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine aren't on the list; Hong Kong isn't currently on Anthropic's or OpenAI's supported list either, while Taiwan is on both. The list changes, and a VPN doesn't turn a region into a supported one, so check the official page before ordering.
- Can't buy in-app on the day you switch regions: Switching an Apple ID or Google account region usually requires a zero balance, and some regions also require a local payment method, so you probably can't buy on the same day; give it some time.
- Top-up "paid but not activated": First check that you entered the right subscription account email, then contact the service's support. Ask two things: is the delivery time written down, and how does the refund work if it isn't activated? "Instant delivery" that isn't written down is hard to hold anyone to when something goes wrong.
- Claude Code says usage is used up: First check whether you're sharing the same account's usage with the web and apps. Usage is counted in a rolling window, so wait for it to reset; if you keep hitting the limit, your daily use has outgrown Pro and it's time to look at Max.
FAQ
Can I pay for Claude with Alipay or WeChat Pay?
Anthropic's official checkout only takes international credit cards, not Alipay or WeChat Pay. To pay in RMB, use a top-up service: Xingqiao accepts WeChat Pay and Alipay, as well as bank cards and Apple Pay.
Can I still subscribe to Claude without a dual-currency credit card?
Yes. Both the app-store region switch and a Claude top-up work without your own dual-currency card. Their barriers and risks differ, so pick one from the table above.
Does a Claude top-up need my account password?
Services differ: some ask you to submit a login session, others only need your account email. "No password" doesn't mean no account access, so before ordering, ask how far the access goes and how to revoke it afterwards. With Xingqiao's Claude top-up, you add our WeChat support after paying and send your subscription account email and a one-time sign-in code; support signs in and activates it. No password needed.
Should I buy Claude Pro or Claude Code Max first?
If you only let Claude Code make the occasional change or run a script, Pro is usually enough. If you spend long days on big projects and multi-file refactors, upgrade to Max 5x or 20x. The usage pool is shared, so heavy use hits the limit sooner.
How much is Claude Pro per year?
The official annual plan is about $17/month, about $200 paid up front. Top-ups from China are basically monthly for now; Xingqiao's Claude Pro top-up is monthly too, and there's no RMB annual option yet.
Can I subscribe to Claude with a Hong Kong account?
Hong Kong isn't currently on Anthropic's or OpenAI's supported region list. Region policies change, so check Anthropic's supported regions page before ordering.
